WHILE Justin Brownlee came close to a triple-double, Antonio Campbell's game headed south for Alaska.
The Alaska import was held to six points and eight rebounds in the Aces’ lopsided 105-86 loss to Barangay Ginebra on Sunday in the PBA Commissioner’s Cup at the Smart-Araneta Coliseum.
Campbell was averaging 24.44 points and 15.56 rebounds entering the match. But he shot just 2-of-9 from the field and left Vic Manuel (20) and Jake Pascual (11) as the only double-digit scorers for Alaska on this important game.
“I played a little careless. Not my best game,” said Campbell in a brief interview with a few reporters while on his way out of the Big Dome.
Campbell, however, has vowed to atone for his struggles. He won’t need any more motivation for that as Alaska takes on Phoenix in a July 6 match critical to its bid for twice-to-beat advantage in the quarterfinals.
“They came out and played good. We must win our next game. Gotta win our next game. We can’t play the way we play today,” said the former Ohio standout.
