CHRIS Banchero said he wouldn't hesitate to take make-or-break shots such as the one he nailed in Alaska's gritty 81-79 win over Meralco in the PBA Philippine Cup on Wednesday night at the Smart Araneta Coliseum.
The Fil-Italian guard hoisted a three-pointer from the right corner with four seconds remaining that turned out to be the winning basket, capping the Aces' comeback from nine points down inside the final three minutes.
Banchero finished with nine points as he hit his only three-point shot of the night. He also added three rebounds and five assists.
"I'm gonna take that single shot every single time," said Banchero after the game.
Banchero said he just found himself with a little space, just enough to let it fly.
"(Jonathan) Gray closed out well, he was close to me but I knocked it down," said Banchero.
As great as Alaska's second win in four outings was, the third-year guard said he'd rather not see the Aces needing to pull off another big comeback again.
"Most of the time we don't wanna be in that position. We wanna be up in the fourth," he said. "We're always a team that fights till the end but we don't want to turn it only when we have to.
"That was a tough mountain to climb."
