STA. ROSA, Laguna – A strained calf muscle suffered in practice forced Justin Watts to miss Alaska’s PBA Governors Cup game against San Miguel on Sunday.

Watts suffered the injury on Thursday, according to coach Jeff Cariaso, and he was advised to rest for the next two days.

Unfortunately, Watts was still hobbled by some pain on the eve of the match that the Aces decided not to field him.

“He tried it yesterday (Saturday), pero hindi niya kaya,” said Cariaso as the Aces went down to the Beermen, 108-83, for their third loss in the season-ending conference.

“We felt it was best not to aggravate it even more. We will see how it feels again tomorrow.”

Alaska has yet to give up on Watts, but already has a Plan B just in case things won’t work out with regard to his recovery.

“Back-up plan, yes there’s one in place,” Cariaso disclosed. “I won’t say it first to be honest with you, but there is obviously a back-up to our import situation.

"You’ll just find out soon enough.”
