JIMMY Alapag and Asi Taulava can still ball, at least in a pick-up game.
The NLEX Road Warriors social media page recently posted clips of Alapag and Taulava playing in a ‘papawis’ game at their practice facility together with NLEX players and members of the PBA ballclub's staff.

The clip showed NLEX coach Alapag burying a couple of three-pointers and Taulava, now an ambassador of the company, scoring from the inside, like they used to when they were teammates with TNT at the prime of their PBA careers.
Alapag laughed when asked about the clip, saying he wasn’t aware that the pick-up game was being filmed and eventually posted on social media.
“The funny thing is I did not know that Saturday papawis was being recorded,” Alapag said. “But it was fun.”

“Obviously, I’m far removed from playing competitively,” the 48-year-old Alapag said. “But any chance we get to get out there with our staff, and Boss Ronald (Dulatre), and some of our other bosses, just to get a good workout. I’m glad that in the video, it showed that I can still make a couple of shots here and there.”
“It’s always good to be back on the court and everybody left that Saturday game uninjured, and got a good cardio workout,” Alapag added.
The video evoked memories of the time that Alapag and Taulava played together from 2023 to 2007, winning a championship in the 2003 PBA All-Filipino Conference.
“But again, it’s fun to think back. It’s been a long time ago when Asi and I did play together and won the first championship together with Talk ‘N Text,” Alapag said.
Taulava, though, is still spotted playing competitive games against players in his age group, which doesn’t surprise Alapag one bit.
“I’ve seen the videos of the different leagues that he is playing. Asi, that competitive fire is still flickering a little bit. For me, not so much. My focus is more on helping our guys and trying to prepare for the second half of the conference,” Alapag said.
