DESPITE a 99-102 loss to Alaska on Sunday night, superstar Mark Caguioa said he can sleep soundly knowing Barangay Ginebra went down fighting to the very end.
The reigning PBA MVP was surprisingly in a good mood after emerging from Ginebra's dugout, saying he liked the way the team shared the ball and fought for every position in the close loss.
His mood was in stark contrast to the rage he vented after Friday's loss to Barako Bull, when he tweeted, "Y are we losing? cuz we dnt move the f_____ ball all wer doing is watching the import score 30pts So dats y us guards hav to take bad shots."
"This is what I told the guys. The kind of games na matatanggap ko ang pagkatalo because the last game we played (against Barako Bull), talo kami ng 10 or 15 points,” Caguioa told sports scribes after the game.
The Gin Kings actually fell by as many as 16 points early in the third period, before a furious 36-14 exchange saw them take a 76-70 advantage heading into the final quarter.
He later tweeted on his account @officialMC47: "This is the type of game kaya kong tanggapin miske talo great game by everyone very proud of my teammates #FOUL??"
The 33-year-old Ginebra guard also expressed confidence that the team will be able to weather the storm this conference, more so with the franchise’s long history of comebacks after numerous false starts.
“This team is built on just always struggling in the beginning and later on, the next thing you know, we’ll play in the semis and then play in the championship. Eh ganito ang gusto ng team eh, gusto sa mahirap manggaling,” he added.
The Gin Kings, currently occupying the bottom half of the standings with their 1-3 record, in a tie with idle San Mig Coffee Mixers, try to get back on the winning track on Wednesday against the Air21 Express at the Cuneta Astrodome.
