EVEN interim coach Bong Ramos admitted he himself is clueless on who will be calling the shots for Barako Bull next season after a whirlwind of stunning developments in the team the past few days.
A day after Rajko Toroman’s surprise firing as active consultant, Ramos conducted the team’s one-and-a-half hour practice on Thursday at the Gatorade Hoops Center as “ordered by management."
The soft-spoken mentor describes himself as a “good soldier” who simply follows the orders of his “commanding officer," referring to the Barako Bull management.
“Basta kami, at lalo na ako, I’ll just follow what management says,” said Ramos, who was appointed head coach early in the year as Toroman took charge of the team as active consultant.
“I’m just a soldier, whatever they (management) want, I’ll just submit. Ano i-request nila sa akin, submit ako.”
Ramos solely called the shots at practice for the first time since Toroman was given the pink slip by management on Wednesday.

“I’m just a soldier... I'll just follow what management says." - Barako Bulls coach Bong Ramos
Toroman’s exit came was followed by reports Barako Bull is trading away its three first-round picks in Sunday’s draft as well as the trade of promising point guard Eman Monfort to Ginebra in exchange for Rob Labagala.

Ramos also disclosed the decisions on the team’s first-round picks in the coming draft remains hanging in the air pending the entry of the team’s new head coach.
Insiders claim current Petron assistant coach Leo Austria and team manager Siot Tanquingcen are on the short list of potential coaches for the team although no official statement had been given by management.
Ramos previously handled the team when the Energy Cola were still carrying the brand name Air21 two years ago until Junel Baculi was appointed to the post.
But Baculi was removed from his job last year, paving the way for his transfer to Globalport, while Ramos reverted to the head coach status.
