AFTER failing to close out an import-less San Mguel in Game Three on Thursday night, Rain or Shine and coach Yeng Guiao are set to cross paths again with a former spearhead turned foe.
His name? Arizona 'AZ' Reid.
Moments after the Beermen survived the sudden exit of Tyler Wlkerson to hack out a 104-98 victory over Rain or Shine at the old Philsports Arena, SMB coach Leo Austria confirmed they are bringing back the import who led the team to last season's Governors Cup championship.
Austria said the 6-3 Reid will be arriving from the US on Saturday, or a day before Game Four of the Commissioner's Cup semifinal series which the Elasto Painters still lead, 2-1.
That certainly isn't good news for Guiao, who had an infamous run-in with his former import during the testy series between the two teams last season.
Bringing back Reid is the logical move following the shock decision to send home Wilkerson, Austria said, is the logical move since there won't be any major adjustments needed owing to the import's familiarity with the system.
Austria bared Reid, who was coming off a stint with the Pilipinas Kings in the Asean Basketball League (ABL), practiced with the Beermen before leaving for the US.
