THE Star Hotshots took another step in securing its future by re-signing guard Justin Melton on Thursday.
The high-leaping Fil-Am guard agreed to a new, two-year pact with the same franchise that gambled on him in the second round of the 2013 PBA Draft where he was selected No. 13 overall.
Terms of Melton’s fresh deal with the Hotshots were not made available.
“2 more years...big thanks to Purefoods and the main man @sportsagentcd for your hard work!,” said Melton on his Twitter account @jmelton_2 as he expressed his gratitude to Star management represented by team manager Alvin Patrimonio and his representative Charlie Dy.
Melton is the second young gun to be given a new deal by the Hotshots after big man Ian Sangalang, who was awarded a maximum, three-year P15 million contract even after missing the entire 40th season of the league due to an ACL injury.

Despite being rookies, both Melton and Sangalang played key roles in Star’s successful grand slam bid during the 2013-14 season.
This early the two are being groomed as potential cornerstone of the franchise whose star core of James Yap, Marc Pingris, and Peter June Simon is slowly getting old.
