MISFORTUNE struck struggling Barangay Ginebra once again after Dylan Ababou twisted his right knee early in the Kings’ PBA Philippine Cup game against San Mig Coffee on Sunday at the Smart-Araneta Coliseum.

The sophomore shooting guard suffered the horrific injury as he was trying to fake off James Yap in the first quarter of the match played before a crowd of 19,718, the biggest so far this season.

Ababou was in obvious pain when Spin.ph chanced upon him while on his way out of the Big Dome accompanied by a Barangay Ginebra utility. He was taken to the Global City St. Lukes hospital for an MRI test on the orders of renowned sports physician and Spin.ph columnist Dr. George Canlas, who got to see the game on television.

A team insider said the initial diagnosis appears to be an ACL injury.

Ababou played for eight minutes and scored two points on 1-3 shooting from the field. He is coming off a pulled hamstring injury on his left leg and just played his first game with the team last week.
