NEWLY named Alaska Aces consultant Sean Chambers went to work right away and liked what he saw.
The former Alaska import watched the NCAA game between San Sebastian and defending champion San Beda with the rest of the Aces’ coaching staff on Monday and gave everyone a hint of their possible picks in the upcoming PBA draft.
“Couple of good guys I like,” he told Spin.ph.
Those two could only be the Stags’ Calvin Abueva and Ronald Pascual as they were the only ones who applied for this year’s draft among the players of the two teams.
Chambers later confirmed he had his eyes on both players, who shone brightest for the Stags in their 80-71 win over the Lions. Abueva had a near-triple-double of 21 points, 21 boards and nine asissts, while Pascual finished with 28 points built around seven three-pointers.
“Abueva’s pretty good and the shooter Pascual,” Chambers said. “They can help any team in the next level, definitely.”
Chambers, who arrived just last Saturday, will stay in the country for the next two weeks.
“I’ll be back and forth from the States. I’ll be helping out with the recruiting and camps for the rest of the year. Whatever I can do to help coach Luigi [Trillo] is what I’m here for,” he said.
“Whenever I can come back to show support to Alaska for all that they’ve done for me, I will always try to help out.”
