AARON Fuller makes his long-delayed debut for Blackwater in the PBA Governors Cup in a game against Columbian Dyip on Friday at the Mall of Asia Arena.
Fuller takes over from Marqus Blakely in the 4:30 p.m. encounter after finally getting cleared to play by doctors almost a month after spraining his ankle in practice.
Blakely will stay on for a while and relegated to the reserve/injury list by the Elite.
Coach Aris Dimaunahan confirmed on Thursday the team’s decision to go with Fuller, who was the Elite’s original choice for import in the season-ending conference.
The 29-year-old Fuller, formerly of NLEX, had been practicing with Blackwater for weeks when he unfortunately rolled his ankle during a scrimmage. The injury kept him out of action including the Elite’s stint in the East Asia League Terrific 12, and forced the team to tap the services of Blakely on short notice.
But he will have his hands full trying to replicate the job left by Blakely, who came close to registering a triple-double in Blackwater’s first win of the conference, 107-98, over NorthPort. The former Best Import submitted numbers of 13 points, 14 rebounds, and seven assists.
The Elite currently carry a 1-2 record.
