MERALCO will be one major player down as it vies in the tight race for a quarterfinals berth in the PBA Philippine Cup.
Guard Aaron Black suffered a torn ACL during the Bolts' 74-51 win over the Magnolia Hotshots on Sunday based on the MRI test released on Monday.

Team manager Paolo Trillo confirmed the bad news that left the Bolts without one of its steadiest players in the heat of the race for the few remaining spots in the Final 8.
The son of grand slam coach Norman Black is expected to be out for the next nine to 10 months.
The absence of Black, averaging 12.3 points, 4.6 rebounds, and 3.8 assists as starter for coach Luigi Trillo, is expected to hurt Meralco's bid for a quarterfinals berth.
The Bolts are currently tied for sixth spot along with Rain or Shine and Terrafirma Dyip, all sporting identical 5-5 slates.
But the team will be up against undefeated and no. 1 seed San Miguel in its final game in the eliminations this Saturday at the Batangas City Coliseum.
