SAN Miguel and Barangay Ginebra fans will have to wait a few more days to watch Game 5 of the PBA 50th Season Governors’ Cup quarterfinals.
Not a few fans, especially on social media, perceived that Game 5 between the Beermen and the Gin Kings would be held on Sunday, being a weekend, and a perfect day to watch the marquee match-up.
But the conclusion of the match-up between sister teams in the Governors’ Cup quarterfinals is actually scheduled on Tuesday at the Ynares Center-Antipolo, with tip-off at 7:30 p.m.
Sunday was initially reserved for Game 5 of quarterfinal series between NLEX and Phoenix Super LPG and/or TNT and Magnolia also held at the Ynares Center-Antipolo, but both series have already ended in sweeps.
Meanwhile, the Beermen forced a sudden death on Friday at the Smart-Araneta Coliseum when they beat the Gin Kings, 108-102, in Game 4.
Even with Sunday open, the league stuck to the original schedule of a Tuesday Game 5 between the Beermen and the Gin Kings, giving both teams three days to prepare for the knockout game.
It will only be a lone duel of the night since Converge has also ended its quarterfinal series against Rain or Shine with a 120-109 victory in Game 4.
Game 4 between San Miguel and Barangay Ginebra was not without color as Beermen playing assistant coach Chris Ross and Gin Kings deputy coach Olsen Racela figured in a verbal altercation at halftime.
The incident fueled Ross, who had 13 points of his 20 points in a 46-point third quarter to lift the Beermen to the victory after being down by 15 points in the contest.
