    Pasig gets payback vs Balanga to rule 3x3 Magiting Cup fourth leg

    EQUALIVET Pasig gained a measure of redemption against rival Wilkins Balanga, pulling off the dramatic 21-18 victory in the Finals of the fourth leg of the Chooks-to-Go Pilipinas 3x3 Magiting Cup Sunday at SM City BF Paranaque.

    Dylan Ababou knocked down a huge deuce with one minute and 28 seconds remaining to put the Kings at match point, 20-18.

    Santi Santillan and Alvin Pasaol muffed their chances in the final minute for the Pure, leading to Leo de Vera ending the match with 52.6 seconds left.

    "Sobrang sarap kasi hindi pa namin sila natatalo sa this conference. Yung last leg, hindi kami makatulog nun sa sakit nung talo namin sa kanila last week," said Ababou as Pasig snapped Balanga's 14-game win streak.

    Joshua Munzon led Equalivet Pasig with 12 points as the top ranked Filipino 3x3 team not only won the the P100,000 cash prize in the tourney, that is also presented by Coca-Cola, but also booked the ticket to the Kaohsiung Challenger next week.

    Ababou added four points, De Vera had three, while new recruit JR Alabanza had two in the Pasig win.

    Chris de Chavez topped Balanga with six points, while Pasaol got five in the runner-up finish.

    Balanga, however, remained on top of the points standing with 340 points, while Pasig is at close second at 320 points. Fyr Fyter Bacolod sits at third with 280 points.

    David Carlos ruled the Slam Dunk title for the fourth time, while Mindoro Tamaraws' Jay Axalan won the Two-Point Shootout.

    The final leg of the Magiting Cup is on Friday, September 20, at SM Megamall Events Center in Mandaluyong, with the champion earning a spot in the Jeju Challenger in October 5 and 6.
