PASIG returned to its winning ways with a gritty 77-72 victory against Bulacan on Friday in the MPBL Lakan Cup at the Olivarez College Gym in Parañaque.
Robbie Manalang wound up with 26 points on 5-of-7 shooting from downtown and made six rebounds as the Realtors stopped their two-game skid for a 12-7 win-loss card for fifth place in the North Division.
"For the last two games, yung defense namin very poor talaga so now we really focus on defense. Yun ang pride ng team na ipinakita namin today," Pasig coach Bong Dela Cruz said.
Former PBA player Josan Nimes contributed 21 points, including nine in the fourth period, while Jeric Serrano, Argel Mendoza and Fonzo Gotladera chipped in seven apiece for Pasig.
Jeric Teng, one of the Realtors main scorers, was limited to four points on a measly 2-of-13 shooting clip in 32 minutes of play.
Pasig held the Kuyas without a field goal for the final 3:51 minutes, while scoring eight points to seal the much-needed win.
Trailing 50-60, Bulacan used a 12-2 blitz bridging the third and fourth periods to knot the game at 62-62 with 8:27 left.
The Realtors made 15 of 21 of their free throws while the Kuyas shot only 16 of 35 from the stripe, good for only 45.7 percent.
Gwyne Capacio registered 17 points, Jovit Dela Cruz scored 13 and JR Alabanza delivered 12 markers for Bulacan, which slid to sixth spot at 12-8, tied with Bataan. Justin Valencia
