ADAMSON lorded over the paint, ripping Jose Rizal University, 74-67, on Monday in the Filoil Flying V Premier Cup in San Juan.
The Falcons took a 14-point lead early before fizzling out in the second quarter, scoring just five points to allow the Heavy Bombers to storm back in the game.
But the Falcons’ height advantage was just too much for the smaller Heavy Bombers as they continuously attacked in the paint in the final 20 minutes of the game.
The only recourse for the Heavy Bombers was to hack the Falcons underneath and Adamson surely made them pay by hitting 21 of 32 attempts from the stripe.
Papi Sarr led the way for the now 4-1 Falcons as he finished with 16 points on 10-12 shooting from the foul line to go along 10 boards in just 17 minutes.
Sean Manganti added nine points as Vince Magbuhos had 12 boards and seven points as the Falcons outrebounded the Heavy Bombers 49-29, getting 19 second-chance points on 25 offensive rebounds.
Jed Mendoza had 20 points, seven assists and five rebounds as MJ Dela Virgen chipped in 12 points but that didn’t stop the Bombers’ slide as they fell to 0-7 for the tournament.
