Oct 7, 2016

OUR Lady of Fatima University and St. Clare College moved a win away from arranging a championship series in the 16th National Athletic Association for Schools, Colleges, and Universities (Naascu) basketball tournament after taking Game One of their respective semifinals series on Thursday at the Makati Coliseum.

The OLFU Phoenix won a tight game against Philippine Christian University, 62-60, while the St. Clare Saints overcame Lyceum Subic Bay, 80-70, to draw first blood in the best-of-three series.

Joseph Marquez tallied 17 points for the Phoenix, who survived a last-ditch three point-shooting spree by the Dolphins to secure the victory.

Paeng Rebugio had 20 points to lead the way for the second-seed Saints, who are seeking a return trip to the finals.

Game Two is set on Saturday afternoon at the Rizal Technological University gym in Mandaluyong City.
