CHINANU Onuaku, the Goyang Sono import whose mid-air collision with Rhenz Abando led to a bad fall multiple injuries for Anyang's Filipino import, was fined 3 million won (~P128,000) by the Korean Basketball League.
A report by Korean sports outlet Jumpball bared the KBL’s Finance Committee will impose the sanction on Onuaku for the 'dangerous collision' with Abando.

It was also revealed that an enraged Anyang side immediately called on the KBL to commence a referee briefing situation to address the incident.
The play in question at the 4:24-mark of Anyang’s 81-85 loss to Goyang was initially ruled as non-intentional contact by game officials.

But after an insistent plea by Anyang head coach Kim Sang Sik for a league review, the element of intentionality and 'non-gentlemanly conduct' on Onuaku’s end in the collision with Abando was subsequently adjudged.
Moreover, the KBL handed stern warnings to match referees Lee Seung Moo, Kim Baek Gyu, and Lee Ji Yeon.
Abando’s initial recovery timetable is projected to run for ‘at least four weeks’ before an on-court return can be considered.
