GILAS Pilipinas got one of its deadliest shooters back in harness as Jeff Chan joined his first practice on Wednesday morning after being sidelined with a groin injury.
While Marcio Lassiter remained out, the Rain or Shine sniper finally suited up and took part in the drills at the Meralco gym for the first time since being reduced into a spectator when he came back after the Elasto Painters won the PBA Commissioner’s Cup.
“I think he got through most of the practice pretty well, so that’s a great sign,” national coach Tab Baldwin said.

Down with the flu since last week, Lassiter, according to Baldwin, has now been struck by bronchitis, which he had checked out at a hospital.
“We got to get that fixed and get him back as soon as we can,” Baldwin said.
Practice player Raymond Almazan was also under the weather and skipped training.
Still, Baldwin was satisfied with his frontline with June Mar Fajardo back since Monday from a knee injury and Andray Blatche taking part in his third practice.
“Things are starting to look a little bit more normal with more players on the court than off the court,” the national coach said. “It’s good for the coaching staff. It makes us feel better. And we will get better more quickly when we have everybody out there.”
