OLIVAREZ College goes for its fourth straight win even as Centro Escolar University looks to continue its recovery as they battle their respective rivals on Monday in the Universities and Colleges Basketball league Season 3 at the Olivarez College gym in Paranaque City.
The Olivarez Sea Lions tackle the dangerous Technological Institute of the Philippines (TIP) Engineers at 2 p.m. with the former expecting an exciting shootout.
The CEU Scorpions, on the other hand, battle the lowly St. Joseph College of Bulacan dribblers at 12 noon with the league inaugural champions going for a third straight win since dropping a close 86-83 decision to the Sea Lions in the opener.
Olivarez College remained as the only undefeated team in the 7-team tournament with a 3-0 card while CEU is tied with Diliman College and TIP for second to fourth places with similar 2-1 cards.
The Sea Lions are coming off a record-setting 84-71 win over the Lyceum-Batangas Pirates last Monday that saw them score a tournament-high 38 points in the first quarter.
Expected to lead the Sea Lions are Lawrence Paolo Castro and Dale Begaso who scored 23 and 17 points, respectively, the last time.
The Scorpions were equally rampant, romping to an 83-57 thumping of the Engineers.
Out to lead CEU to its third straight win are 6-foot-11 Senegalese Malikc Maodo Diouf, Pierce Tyron Chan, Orlan Wamar and Judelric Fuentes.
Backing the tournament are CaféFrance, Yakult, Gerry’s Grill, Hapee Toothpaste, MaxSell Power Tool and Tough Mama Home and Kitchen Appliances, Tanduay Athletics and Toyota Motor Philippines.
