OLIVAREZ College and hopes to sustain the momentum and topple top-ranked Diliman College in the Universities and Colleges Basketball League Season 3 finals on Monday at the Olivarez campus gym in Parañaque City.
The decider of the best-of-three series is set at 12 p.m.
The third-seeded Sea Lions hope to finally claim the title after bowing to Centro Escolar University Scorpions in two games two years ago.
Olivarez coach Myk Saguiguit is confident of completing the comeback after beating the Blue Dragons in Game Two of the finals, their first win in four tries against Diliman.
“That’s the reason why I told my players to stay focused and sharp,” said Saguiguit. “We have to play much better in the sudden death.”
The defeat last Thursday was doubly painful for the Blue Dragons as they saw their 10-game winning streak dating back in the eliminations come to a disappointing end.
Diliman coach Rensy Bajar remains unperturbed, believing his boys have what it takes to bounce back, counting on Benin’s Steve Gandjeto to bounce back after a seven-points and five-rebound outing.
They also need to defend well against the Vinn Begaso, who had 20 points and 16 rebounds in Game Two.
Also expected to deliver for Olivarez are Joshua Alamejeda, Lawrence Castro, Dwight and Chris Lalata a – all of them tallied double figures.
John Mahari paced the Blue Dragons the last time with 18 points in the tournament backed by CafeFrance, Hapee Toothpaste, Gerry’s Grill, MaxSell Power Tool, Yakult, TanduayAthletics, Toyota Motor Philippines and Tough Mama Home and Kitchen Appliances.
