OLIVAREZ College extended its winning run to four games with a 92-78 drubbing of Manila Central University in the PG Flex Invitational Tournament 2025 Quintana Cup on Monday at the Paco Arena.
Crafty guard Jhon Patrick Panelo put on another all-around performance with 19 points, 6 assists and 5 rebounds as the Sea Lions remained the only undefeated team in the preseason tournament designed to give UCAL teams the opportunity to toughen up.
Three other veterans from the reinging UCAL champions scored in double figures with foreign-student athlete Hakim Njasse completing a double-double of 14 points and 12 rebounds plus 4 assists. Rodel Renon and Bryan Manuel registered 16 and 13 points, respectively.
CEU, Diliman back on track
Meantime, multi-titled Centro Escolar University and Diliman evened up their records at 2-2 after blasting their respective rivals with the former banking on Christ Jay Singson’s red-hot shooting to down Gardner College, 74-60.
The sweet-shooting Singson made all but one of his 3-points shots to finish with 19 points.
Diliman, on the other hand, went to Leonard Maraña and the wily guard responded with a 24-point, 6-rebound and 2-assist performance for a 76-58 thumping of San Sebastian.
The defeat was the third straight for the Stags while Gardner dropped further to the cellar with a dismal 0-4 record in the event backed by Smart Sports, Crane, Topflite, Hapee Toothpaste, Gerry’s Grill, Spalding, Mighty Bond and Best Options.
The Sea Lions trailed the Supremos in the first half but pressed their attack in the third to seize the momentum before completely dismantling them with another massive assault that handed the Caloocan-based school its second straight defeat in five games.
