OLIVAREZ College put on a big second half performance and beat Diliman College, 64-55, on Tuesday to close in on a sweep of the first round in the Universities and Colleges Basketball League Summer Invitational at the Buddhacare gym in Quezon City.
Held to just 22 points in the first two quarters, the Sea Lions knocked down 21points each in the last two quarters to complete another impressive come-from-behind win.
Jayboy Solis and Archie Sunga struck hardest for the Sea Lions, coming through with clutch baskets at crunch time as Olivarez College rolled to its fourth straight win in the six-team tournament.
The Sea Lions look take on National University next week.
Centro Escolar University defeated Jose Rizal University, 85-71, while National University outlasted College of St. Benilde, 84-75.
Solis led the Sea Lions with 13 points aside from grabbing four rebounds and dishing out two assists.
Orlan Wamar buried five triples to lead CEU’s well-balanced attack with 25 points while Mike Pate also had a stellar showing for NU with 21 points spiked by two triples apart tallying six boards and three assists.
CEU and NU now have 2-2 records, Diliman holds a 2-1 card and St. Benilde is at 1-3 in the tournament sponsored by Ever Bilena-Blackwater, Smart, Advanced Solution, Inc. and Manila Bulletin.
