NATIONAL University has finally broken its silence and disputed the claims of Rhayyan Amsali regarding his now controversial transfer from Nazareth School of NU to San Beda High School.
In a statement released on Friday, the campus set the record straight on what really transpired on the events that took place before the issue surfaced.
NU insisted that Amsali was indeed aware of his failing mark even before making the jump.
But rather than take the required remedial classes for “underperforming students to cope with the school’s academic standards”, the 6-foot-3 forward was a no-show despite filling out the necessary papers to attend those classes.
“Upon the release of the grades last April 16, 2018, Mr. Amsali, just like any other student, was advised to attend a remedial class to help him with his failing grade. Mr. Amsali filled out the SHS remedial class application form, however, he did not make an appearance,” the statement read.
NU furthered that the Amsali camp was fully aware of the failing grade, with his mother Nurhaisa M. Amsali claiming the report card on May 4.
“Records also show that Mr. Amsali’s report card which was released last May 4, 2018, was signed and accepted by his mother, Nurhaisa M. Amsali,” the statement continued.
The school argued the claims of an apparent sabotage on their part against Amsali, saying that NU will “not meddle with the faculty grading nor intentionally fail students.”
“We have not influenced nor intend to bend to pressure as far as student grades are concerned.”
