SERBIAN reinforcement Nikola Pavlovic came through in the clutch, drilling the game-winning long bomb to lift Pasig Grindhouse Kings to a tough 21-19 overtime win over Jakarta West Bandits in their opener in the Chooks-to-Go 3x3 Asia Pacific Super Quest Saturday at SM Megamall Fashion Hall in Mandaluyong.
The former Novi Sad campaigner buried the two-pointer from the right wing past Savon Goodman as the Philippine side notched its first win in Pool C.
"Someone had to take the two-point shot. It was any of us," said Pavlovic.
Taylor Statham scored the last five points in regulation for Pasig to grab a 19-17 lead with 27 seconds remaining, but Martavious Irving tied the game at 19 with a long bomb in the last 19 seconds.
Joshua Munzon had a chance to win the game for the Grindhouse Kings, but he air-balled his shot as the game went to overtime.
Statham scored 10 for Pasig, which turns its attention to Absolute 3x3 of Chinese Taipei.
Munzon added five points, Pavlovic got four, and Troy Rike had two in the victory.
"We've been through this and the President's Cup prepared us for this," said Statham. "We just came together. They came right at us and made it tough, but we couldn't let our fans down."
Goodman topped Jakarta with eight points in the losing cause.
Pasig 21 - Statham 10, Munzon 5, Pavlovic 4, Rike 2.
Jakarta 19 - Goodman 8, Irving 6, Sitepu 3, Atkinson 2.
