Warren Ybanez shines as Judiciary deals Malacanang-PSC first loss in UNTV Cup
Warren Ybanez scores 24 points to power the Magis to their third win in four games.

FORMER pro Warren Ybanez powered Judiciary to a 93-82 victory over erstwhile unbeaten Malacanang-Philippine Sports Commission to boost its bid for a berth in the second round of the 6th UNTV Cup at the Pasig Sports Center.

The wily guard out of Far Eastern University produced 24 points and eight rebounds as the Magis improved their win-loss record to 3-1 and handed the Malacanang-PSC Kamao their first defeat in five games in Group B.

Chester Tolomia scored 15 and Don Camaso added 14 for the Magis.

Ex-UST star Christian Luanzon paced the Kamao with 22 points.

In the other Group B match, the PDEA Drug Busters kept their second round hopes alive with a 109-77 drubbing of the Ombudsman Graft Busters for a 2-3 mark.

Bureau of Fire Protection claimed its third win in five games, crushing the COA Enablers, 132-83, thanks to another huge game from ex-PBA player Gilbert Malabanan in the tournament offering P4 million for the chosen charity of the champion team.

The lanky forward, who once played for crowd-favorite Ginebra in the PBA, sizzled for 28 points with seven rebounds, three assists and three steals in the annual cagefest organized by UNTV president and CEO Daniel Razon for public servants.
