UST cagebelles make it three wins in a row in Dickies Cup as CEU stays unbeaten

University of Santo Tomas streaked to its third straight win by outlasting Adamson, 69-63, even as Centro Escolar University-Café France cemented its hold of the lead in the SMART-PCABL 4th Dickies Cup at the Philippine Buddhacare gym in Quezon City.

Candice Magluyo scored a game-high 15 points but it was Sofie Felisarta who struck hardest for the Tigresses, scoring six of her 11 points in the pivotal fourth period that kept the Lady Falcons at bay.

Three other players scored 10 points as UST evened its record to 3-3 to forge a threer-way tie with University of the East and Ateneo-San Miguel Corporation.

The league-leading Lady Stallions notched their fifth win in the six-team double-round elims by crushing Ateneo, 69-52, thanks to another superb effort by Janine Pontejos and Mary Ann Dologue.

After erupting for 32 points in the team’s 74-64 win over Far Eastern University-Multimotors last week, Pontejos was held to just 14 points but those were enough to carry CEU to victory in the tournament sponsored CW Home Depot, Powerhouse, K-Tech Sports, Inc., Dickies Underwear and Jumbo Plastic Linoleum.

Dologue finished with 16 points while three other teammates scored eight points or better.

The Lady Warriors, on the other hand, got 14 points from Eunique Chan to slip past the Lady Tamaraws, 56-52.
