NATIONAL University drew another double-double performance from Carl Tamayo as the Bullups outlasted the Adamson Baby Falcons, 83-78, to rule the PCABL 11th Freego Cup on Tuesday at the Buddhacare gym in Quezon City.

The 6-foot-7 Tamayo had 20 points and 12 boards as the Bullpups recovered from a slow start to annex their second straight title after winning the gold in the Palarong Pambansa in Vigan last month.

Tamayo shot an impressive 7 for 11, had three assists and a steal in 20 minutes of play to win the MVP award.

Three other NU players scored in double figures with Gerry Abadiano adding 17 points while Terrence Fortea and Cyril Gonzales combining for 26 points.

With Tamayo at the helm, the Bullpups outscored the Baby Falcons, 18-13, in the second quarter to forge a 37-37 count at halftime before pouring on the heat in the next frame to pull away for good in theĀ backed by Choi Garden, CW Home Depot, Powerhouse and Hapee Toothpaste.
