Racal Ceramica sweeps eliminations to take top seeding, battles No. 4 Mighty Sports in semis

RACAL Ceramica swept the elimination round of the 2017 Republica Cup commercial division basketball tournament after beating Baliwag, 103-93, on Friday at the Malolos Sports and Convention Center.

Sidney Onwubere had a team-high 18 points for the Tile Masters, who gained the top-seed in the semifinals with a 5-0 win-loss slate.

Onwubere had eight of Racal’s 36 points in the third quarter as the Tile Masters blew the game wide open.

The former Emilio Aguinaldo College standout scored 10 points in the first period as the Tile Masters took a 30-24 lead.

Joseph Terso had 16 points, while Roider Cabrera added 15 for the Tile Masters, who will face fourth seed Mighty Sports in the semifinals.

Baliwag dropped to 3-2, same as the records of Hobe Macway Travel and Mighty Sports.

Baliwag, however, got the No. 3 seeding and will face second-ranked Hobe in the semifinals.
