Senate Sentinels, PNP Responders keep share of UNTV Cup lead

THE Senate Sentinels and Philippine National Police Responders kept their share of the lead with close  wins in the 2nd UNTV Cup Executive Face-Off at the Pasig City Sports Center.

The Sentinels leaned on Warren Tan in the endgame to eke out a 79-77 win over the defending champions Armed Forces of the Philippines (AFP) Cavaliers.

Tan had a game-high 23 points, while Senators Joel Villanueva and Sonny Angara combined for 27.

Senate scored its third win in as many games, while the Cavaliers absorbed their third straight defeat in the annual event for public servants.

The PNP Responders drew 26 points from Joshua Alejandro and 13 from Joel de Mesa to outlast the Judiciary Magis, 81-75.

The DOJ Boosters made the win column with a 75-43 drubbing of the GSIS Furies.

DOJ’s evened its record to 1-1 while the loss was the second straight for the Furies in the tournament offering P1 million to the chosen charity of the champion team.
