Letran withdrawal gives San Sebastian chance to defend PSSBC title

SAN Sebastian College was given a chance to defend their Philippine Secondary Schools Basketball Championship (PSSBC) Ironcon Builders Cup after the withdrawal of NCAA rival Letran

The Staglets missed out on an automatic slot in the PSSBC after finishing only sixth in the NCAA Season 90 tournament but Letran backed out for still unknown reasons.

The Staglets beat the San Beda Red Cubs in a thrilling championship game last year with eventual MVP and Batang Gilas member Lorenzo Navarro coming up with 32 points, 13 assists, and 11 rebounds in a 108-102 triple-overtime victory.

The third PSSBC opens on Saturday at the Chiang Kai Shek College gym with Samahang Basketbol ng Pilipinas president Manny V. Pangilinan as special guest.
