San Beda Taytay is king of adidas Uprising basketball after beating Mapua in final

SAN Beda Taytay defeated Mapua, 76-64, last Saturday to rule the 2017 adidas Uprising basketball tournament at the Titan Love Court in Taguig City.

Joshua Buenaflor and Sebastian Valencia each had 16 points for the Red Cubs while Anfernee 'Penny' Estacio scored 11 points to win MVP honors.

Lloyd Oliva tallied 12 points for the Red Robins, who trailed by only two points, 32-30, at the half before San Beda went on a 10-0 blast led by John Peregrina and Joshua Bairan to start the third quarter.

By the end of the third quarter, the Red Cubs were already up, 57-44.

In the battle for third, National University trounced La Salle Greenhills, 77-34.

Kevin Quiambao had 14 points for the Bullpups at the close of their campaign in the week-long tournament supervised by Gil Salandanan as tournament director.

Estacio and Buenaflor was joined by Justine Sanchez of San Beda, and Giam Quiambao and Oliva of Mapua in the first Mythical Team.

Kenji Duremdes, Kyle Rivera, and Julian Jugo of La Salle Greenhills, and Ernest Felisida and Kevin Quiambao of NU won places in the second Mythical Team.

"Having 32 contending teams this year, we are bound to see more emerging creators in the world of Philippine basketball,” said Jen Dacasin, adidas Philippines brand communications and sports marketing manager.
