OLA Adeogun sparked a San Beda run in the fourth quarter as the Red Lions beat the De La Salle Green Archers, 73-66, to complete a sweep of the finals of the Philippine Collegiate Champions League on Monday at the Ynares Sports Arena in Pasig City.

Adeogun scored 19 points in Game Two, coming up with seven markers in a huge 12-0 run by the Red Lions in the final quarter to come away with the PCCL crown for the very first time since the league’s inception in 2002.

The five-peat champion Red Lions also became the second NCAA team to win the PCCL title following San Sebastian’s conquest in 2011.

San Beda did it in style, beating last year’s champion and sweeping the best-of-three championship series. Adeogun was also named Most Valuable Player.

La Salle was ahead, 60-56, but suddenly went silent. San Beda took advantage and seized control, with Adeogun completing a three-point play at the four-minute mark for a 62-60 lead.

Adeogun came up big again with a minute to play in the game, scoring on a putback off a rebound battle with Ben Mbala to grab a 68-60 lead.

Jeron Teng had a game-high 25 points but went scoreless in the fourth. Prince Rivero had 11 points while Mbala had 10 points and 12 rebounds for the Green Archers.

“We are number one in the Philippines,” said San Beda acting coach Adonis Tierra.

“Coming from behind, it was very difficult. Pero ’yung pride nila and determination, ’yun ’yung nakita ko. Ayaw nilang magpatalo,” he added.
