Sacred Heart School starts NBTC title defense with victory over Thailand-Traill IS

SACRED Heart School-Ateneo de Cebu opened its title defense of the NBTC National High School Championship with a 76-72 win over Thailand-Traill International School on on Sunday at the Mall of Asia Arena.

Eroll Pastor scored 26 points and pulled down 17 rebounds for the Magis Eagles, who are eyeing a repeat after winning the crown over San Beda last year.

Jed Colina had 13 points for SHS-AdC.

Johann Rubite had 27 points for Traill International School, one of the two foreign teams entered in the tournament.

In other matches, John Galinato scored 19 points, including the game-winner as Chiang Kai Shek College beat Canada Durmam Crossover, 62-60.

Galinato’s heroics completed a Blue Dragons comeback after trailing by 15 points.

A triple by Miguel Oczon with 53 seconds to play in the fourth tied the count for the Blue Dragons before Galinato’s game-winner.

Rafaelo Toribio had 11 points and 13 rebounds for the Blue Dragons.

James Canlas had 23 points and 13 rebounds for the Canada Durmam Crossover.

Lucena-Maryhill College defeated Butuan-Agusan National High School, 59-40. Ian Burilla had 18 points for the Lucena squad, which led, 23-7, after the first period and never let up.
