Unbeaten UCB League leader CEU eyes ninth win as Scorpions take on Diliman College
Rod Ebondo and the Scorpions are heavily favored against lowly Diliman College.

UNBEATEN league leader Centro Escolar University looks to extend the gap from its pursuers when it goes for a repeat over Diliman College on Monday in the Universities and Colleges Basketball League (UCBL) at the Olivarez Sports Center in Paranaque City.

The CEO Scorpions easily defeated the Blue Dragons, 75-59, in the first round, but coach Yong Garcia is treating the 12 p.m. game like a do-or-die match.

“This is not the best time to play a relax game, we have to play as hard as we can to sustain our streak,” said Garcia.

CEU took the first semis berth in the seven-team tournament with a runaway 98-57 win over University of Batangas on Thursday, their eight straight win.

Expected to lead CEU are Rod Ebondo, Jason Opiso and Samboy de Leon.

Olivarez College looks to boost its semis bid when it takes on winless University of Batangas in the 2 p.m. game.

The Olivarez Sea Lions are running third with a 5-3 mark.
