TERRENCE Romeo welcomed the privacy he will get – at least even for a while – as Gilas Pilipinas finalizes its buildup for the Fiba Asia Championship outside of Manila.

The GlobalPort star, who has drawn attention from fans and media alike owing to his superb play in his national team debut, is set to get some peace and serenity as the national players started their training camp in Cebu.

“Syempre malaking tulong yun (privacy) kasi naka-focus kami at 'yung chemistry namin lalong ma-bui-build ‘dun,” Romeo said.

Gilas, fresh from its MVP Cup conquest, arrived on Monday in the Queen City of the South where the team will train in seclusion for one week.

National coach Tab Baldwin declined to divulge where Gilas will hold camp, but sources said the team will practice at the Hoops Dome in Lapu Lapu City.

“Malaking bagay rin yun para sa bonding namin, yung samahan,” Romeo said. “Yun yung pinaka-importante sa team eh.”

The Nationals will leave for China next Monday, two days before the start of the continental qualifiers for the Rio Olympics next year.
