Renzo Navarro shows way as undermanned Lyceum beats St. Benilde
Renzo Navarro leads a seven-strong Lyceum to victory.

RENZO Navarro had 25 points, 11 assists and three steals as undermanned Lyceum beat College of Saint Benilde in overtime, 73-66, on Wednesday in the Smart City Hoops Under-25 Summer Classic.

Navarro showed the way for the Pirates, which fielded only seven players.

Liam Barbero had 16 points and 11 rebounds, while Yancy Remulla had 13 points and 19 rebounds for the Pirates, who clinched a spot in the quarterfinal round with a 1-4 record.

As No. 5 seed, Lyceum will face the loser of Thursday’s match between league-leading Far Eastern University and University of the Philippines.

“Kahit seven lang kami, na-motivate kami dahil doon. ‘Yung mga ganung pressure at do-or-die na laro, doon ma-tetest ‘yung character namin,” said Navarro.

Navarro hit a two-pointer to make it a 69-65 lead. Mark Miranda cut the deficit to three points but Remulla nailed a triple to put the game away.

CSB ended up winless in five games.
