THE Philippine National Police (PNP) Responders continued their rampage, claiming a fifth straight win with a 90-59 drubbing of the DOJ Boosters even as Malacañang-Philippine Sports Commission notched its first win in the 2nd UNTV Cup Executive Face-Off held over the weekend at the Pasig City Sports Center.

Protecting an 18-10 lead in the first quarter, the Responders outscored the Boosters, 28-15, for a commanding 46-25 halftime lead which they valiantly protected to extend their winning streak to five games.

Joel de Mesa scattered 22 points to lead PNP while Philips Gil Philipps and Anthony Padua chipped in 18 and 11 points, respectively, in the event presented by UNTV through its president and CEO Daniel Razon.

Aside from their outside sniping, the Responders also used their height and heft advantage to dominate the Boosters in rebounding, 41-26.

Sharing the limelight with the PNP Responders was Special Assistant to the Presideng Bong Go who erupted for a conference-high 44 points in the team’s 105-79 win over the GSIS Furies.

Kamao’s win was its first in four starts in the tournament offering P1 million to the chosen charity of the champion team.

Meantime, the Ombudsman Graftbusters caught the Senate Sentinels napping and pulled off a 66-51 win.

The win enabled the Graftbusters to forged a three-way tie for second to fourth placers with the Sentinels and the Judiciary Magis at 3-1.
