JOREY Napoles finished with a double-double and Technological Institute of the Philippines (TIP) continued its stellar run in the 2015 National Collegiate Championship, beating University of the Visayas, 59-53, on Monday at the FAITH Gym in Tanauan City, Batangas.

Napoles finished with 13 points and 15 rebounds as the Engineers set up a showdown with NCAA runner-up San Beda in the stepladder tournament on Tuesday at The Arena in San Juan.

TIP, runners-up in its mother league National Collegiate Basketball League (NCBL), extended its surprising run in the tournament also known as the Philippine Collegiate Champions League (PCCL).

In gaining one of the two spots for Luzon-Metro Manila in the PCCL Elite Eight, the Engineers also knocked off another fancied team in NCAA semifinalist Mapua.

Nino Ibanes had 11 points while Terrence Tumalip chipped in 10 markers for the Engineers, who also got 11 rebounds from Chris Okoronkwo.

Jun Manzo finished with 19 points for the Green Lancers, whose campaign in the Elite Eight ended prematurely at the end of a day that started on the wrong note.

UV players, coaches and officials were forced to push their team coaster in one stretch of the Star Tollway after the vehicle broke down nearing the Tanauan exit.
