NIGERIAN import Bright Akhuetie continued to shine for Perpetual Help, scoring 21 points to power the Altas to an 86-76 victory over also-ran National University on Saturday in the Filoil Flying V Hanes Premier Cup at The Arena in San Juan.

Gerald Dizon scored 16, G-Jay Ylagana added 13 and Prince Eze chipped in with 11 points as the Altas, who had earlier secured a quarterfinal berth, ended the elimination round with seven wins and only one loss.

Coach Aric del Rosario remained dissatisfied even as the Altas dramatically reduced their turnovers to 13 from 26 in the win over St. Benilde recently.

“Hindi pa ako convinced sa mga panalo namin,” said Del Rosario. “Sabi ko nga buti sinu-swerte pa tayo kasi kung mag turn over kami, 20, 20 plus.”

“‘Yun ’yung gusto kong mawala sa amin katulad noong sa Benilde 26 turnovers kami buti nanalo pa kami ’yun lang siguro ang gagamutin ko sa team,” he added.

Jay-jay Alejandro scored 16 points, Mohamad Salim added 13, Rev Diputado contributed 11 and Seny Gaye added 10 for the Bulldogs, who dropped to an even 4-4 card. The Bulldogs had bowed out of contention on Friday after Far Eastern University (5-3) won over Emilio Aguinaldo College (1-7).
