Bacolod Tay Tung, Saint Louis School gain ground in NBTC seeding round

NEGROS teams Bacolod Tay Tung High School and Saint Louis School-Don Bosco Dumaguete beat separate rivals on Sunday in the SM-National Basketball Training Center League (NBTC) National Finals seeding round at the One E-Com Center in Pasay City.

James Barrera finished with 21 points and 11 rebounds while Ryan Cruz added 19 points as Bacolod Tay Tung overcame University of Luzon Dagupan, 87-62.

Ian Lazarte and Karl Dave had 13 points each as Saint Louis School-Don Bosco Dumaguete came back from 10-points down to beat Jesus Loving Shepherd Naga, 71-69.

Tay Tung secured the No. 28 seed and will take on No. 5 National University in the first round of the knockout tournament while University of Luzon fell to No. 29 and will face fourth-seed University of Visayas.

SLS-Don Bosco took the No. 26 seed and will battle No. 7 San Beda, while Jesus The Loving Shepherd dropped to No. 31 and will go up against second-ranked and reigning NCAA champion La Salle Greenhills.

Julius Garcia and Dither Ferriols had 19 points each while Aerone Santos chopped in 18 points and 12 rebounds to lift Letran-Bataan to a 76-49 win over St. Columbine College Pagadian, 76-49.

Letran-Bataan, meanwhile, claimed the No. 27 spot and will go up against No. 6 Mapua, as No. 30 St. Columban College arranged a first round encounter with No. 3 Chiang Kai Shek College.
