Gerry Abadiano, Encho Serrano show way as NCR beats Western Visayas to bag Palarong Pambansa gold

NATIONAL Capital Region beat Western Visayas, 75-48, on Saturday to cop the gold medal in the Palarong Pambansa secondary boys basketball in San Jose De Buenavista, Antique.

Gerry Abadiano had 25 points, while Encho Serrano added 21 points for NCR, whose team is backed by Adamson and Chiang Kai Shek College.

Serrano won the Most Valuable Player award while Abadiano was part of the Mythical Five.

Serrano and Abadiano scored seven points as NCR went on a 13-4 run to close the first period with a 30-16 lead.

The rout continued as NCR outscored the Santa Clarita International School-backed Western Visayas, 24-13, to take a 54-29 halftime lead, before the lead swelled to 31 in the second half.

Ryan Calama-an had 11 points for Western Visayas, and was later named to the Mythical Five.

Meanwhile, Central Visayas, represented by University of Visayas, beat Calabarzon of San Beda Taytay, 77-71, to claim the bronze medal.

The NCR bets won without the injured Carl Tamayo and Donn Lim.
