NU Bullpups one win away from elims sweep and outright spot in UAAP juniors finals with rout of UE

NATIONAL University is one win away from an outright finals berth after clobbering University of the East, 94-60, on Wednesday in the UAAP Season 78 juniors basketball tournament at the Filoil Flying V Arena.

NU, with a 13-0 card, looks to complete a double-round elimination sweep and claim the thrice-to-beat advantage when it takes on De La Salle-Zobel on Saturday.

Justine Baltazar had 16 points and 16 rebounds to lead the Bullpups.

De La Salle-Zobel, meanwhile, hammered out a 47-35 win over Adamson to assure itself of the No. 2 slot in the semifinals.

Aljun Melecio scored 14 points as the Junior Archers score their 11th win in 13 games.

Defending champion Ateneo (9-4) downed University of Santo Tomas (3-10), 80-57, while Far Eastern University (8-5) downed UP Integrated School (2-11), 81-71, to formally clinch the remaining two spots in the round of four.

The Baby Falcons bow out with a 6-7 card.
