Mighty Sports downs Sta. Lucia to secure top spot in PCBL playoffs
Import Bright Aklhuetie registers a huge double-double for Mighty Sports.

HOMETOWN favorite Mighty Sports edged Sta. Lucia, 92-85, on Saturday to secure the top spot in the playoffs of the PCBL Chairman’s Cup on Sunday at the Malolos Sports and Convention Center.

Kiefer Ravena scored 20 and Nigerian import Bright Akhuetie had 17 points and 20 rebounds as Mighty improved its win-loss record to 9-1.

Ravena made a triple that capped a 7-0 run in the fourth period as Mighty Sports doused a Sta. Lucia rally.

Jett Vidal led the Realtors with 20 points, Jhaps Bautista contributed 15 markers and Jam Jamito had 12 points and 13 boards.

New import Ik Akpuru, tapped to replace Prince Eze, scored only three points in 10 minutes of play for Sta. Lucia, which slipped to No. 5 with a 5-6 record.

SCTEX beat Foton, 91-60, for a share of second spot with Jumbo Plastic at 6-4.

Five SCTEX players scored in double figures led by Bayron Villarias, who tallied 18 points in the event supported by Spalding, Hahn Manila, LGR, During’s Barbeque and Restaurant, Ambucore and Gerry’s Grill .
