Letran provides opening fireworks in Freego Kids caging with shock win over CKS 
Freego’s Edster Sy makes the ceremonial toss during the opening of the HDBL Freego Kids tournament last Saturday at the SGS gym. 

LETRAN produced the biggest win in the opening of the HDBL Freego Kids by downing multi-titled Chiang Kai Shek College, 56-51, at the SGS gym in Quezon City.

Carl Abanico shone brightest for Letran with 10 points and seven boards while five other teammates chipped in five points or more to underscore their firepower in the event organized by Edster Sy.

Ainsley Jerell Lor and Jehro Obtinalla paced Chiang Kai Shek with 11 and 10 points, respectively.

Also winning in the 15-under division of the event backed by AXA Philippines with Boy de Vera and Willy Chan serving as commissioner and tournament director, respectively, was La Salle Greenhills, which dumped St. Theresa’s School of Novaliches, 110-35.

The Greenies used their advantage in height and heft to dominate the their rivals, putting the match away after only three quarters as they took a 86-31 lead.

Six LSGH players scored in double digits with Kyle Rivera topscoring with 19 points.

Also making its presence felt was St. Stephen’s High School which clobbered St. Theresa’s School of Novaliches, 65-36 - thanks to Kenzo Bumanlag which tallied 19 points.
