Letran Knights one win away from Martin Cup elims sweep after edging CEU Scorpions
Rey Nambatac and the Knights stay unbeaten in the preseason tournament.

LETRAN-A defeated Centro Escolar University-B, 70-68, in the 22nd Fr. Martin Cup summer basketball tournament at the San Beda gym.

Christian de la Pena had 14 points, Rey Nambatac added 11, and the Knights scored their fifth victory in as many games and is one win away from a sweep of the the elimination round.

CEU-A beat Letran-B, 78-73. Memet Ascano had 18 points for the Scorpions, who improved to 2-3.

In women’s play, Daphne Esplana scored 17 and Antonia Wong had 16 points as University of the Philippines beat College of Saint Benilde, 74-59.

Jason Celis had 13 points as Adamson walloped San Beda-Alabang, 95-51, in Group B of the juniors division. The Baby Falcons upped their win-loss slate to 4-1.

Perpetual Help beat Hope in Hoops, 63-56, to notch its third win in four outings in Group B.
