JOHN Galinato and Miguel Oczon have committed to play for the National University seniors team in the UAAP, head coach Jamike Jarin confirmed on Friday.

Galinato and Oczon were teammates with Chiang Kai Shek College

Oczon moved to NU before Season 80 of the UAAP.

“These young men will be a big help in our program. With Miguel Oczon joining us, he is a two-way player, solid defender and a proven shooter, while John Galinato brings us a lot of athleticism and he is a proven scorer,” said Jarin.

Galinato led Chiang Kai Shek College to titles in the Metro Manila Basketball League and the Fil-Chinese league.

Ranked eighth in the NBTC High School Power Rankings, Galinato scored 19 in leading the Blue Dragons to an 80-62 win over San Beda in the MMBL final.

Galinato also took part in the NBTC and Slam All-Star games this season.

Oczon, meanwhile, helped the Bullpups reach the UAAP Season 80 finals. His play in Game Two allowed NU to force a rubber match and break Ateneo’s unbeaten run. Oczon also suited up for NU during the NBTC where the Bullpups won the championship.

Galinato and Oczon both played under Goldwin Monteverde, who handles the CKSC and NU juniors basketball teams.
