De Ocampo beats MLQU to complete seven-game sweep of NAASCU group play

DE Ocampo Memorial College defeated Manuel Luis Quezon University, 86-75, to clinch the top spot in Group B in the NAASCU Season 17 basketball tournament at the RTU gym in Mandaluyong.

Jhonard Clarito and Angelo Ramos showed the way as the Cobras completed a seven-game sweep of group play to secure a twice-to-beat advantage in the quarterfinals.

Clarito had 25 points and 14 rebounds, while Ramos had 15 and six for the Cobras, the only unbeaten team in the 16 team tournament.

Jayson Grimaldo led the Stallions with 27 points and 12 rebounds, while Gianne Rivera scored 19.

St. Francis of Assisi College outlasted Philippine Merchant Marine School, 71-64, to join defending champion St.Clare College and De Ocampo in the quarterfinals.

JM Cruz finished with 22 points and 15 rebounds and Luke Parcero added 12 points for the Doves, who closed out with a 5-2 record.

Donmark Matillano led PMMS with 14 points and six rebounds and Rocky Antinares had 13 points and eight rebounds.

Our Lady of Fatima University outclassed Holy Angel University, 83-78,

Dunray Geraldo and Jessiery Pedrosa combined for 28 points for the Phoenix, who are seeking to improve their runner-up finish behind St.Clare last year.

Karl Christian Sampang led Holy Angel with 21 points and nine rebounds.

City University of Pasay downed Lyceum of Subic Bay, 91-72.

Edgar Erice Jr. exploded with a tournament-high  42  points, 14 rebounds and six assists to lead CUP to its first victory.

Aldrin Telpo also had a monster game for the Green Eagles with 36 points and  11 rebounds.

Kristian Santos led Lyceum Subic with 25 points, six rebounds and six assists.
