Japan wins three-game basketball exhibition series against Czech Republic

JAPAN won two of three games in an exhibition series with Czech Republic as part of its build-up for the 2015 Fiba-Asia Championship.

Keijuro Matsui scored 18 points, hitting four triples, as the Japanese beat the Czechs, 75-61, in their third game.

Yuta Tabuse said the tune-up games were a perfect gauge for the Japanese team as they continue preparations for the Fiba-Asia Championship.

“We showed some positive things and had things we still need to improve on a lot. I think it was good for us to find out what they are through these three games,” said the former NBA player in a report by the Japan Times.

Japan, like the Gilas Pilipinas national squad, will play in the William Jones Cup set in late August.

Power forward Joji Takeuchi had 16 points for Japan, which also won the second match after bowing in the series opener.
