HAMED Haddadi has signed up to play for Chinese ballclub Sichuan Blue Whales, according to Iran’s basketball federation website and the Tehran Times.

The 7-foot-2 Haddadi rejoins the Blue Whales after suiting up for the Qingdao DoubleStar Eagles last season in which the team finished third in the Chinese Basketball Association (CBA).

The Iranian big man, who played in the NBA for the Memphis Grizzlies and was the MVP of the 2013 FIBA-Asia Men’s Championship in Manila, played for the Blue Whales in the CBA's 2013-2014 season.

Haddadi is currently in Suzhou, China with the Iran team for the 2015 International Basketball Challenge, part of the team’s buildup for this year’s Fiba-Asia Championship.

Haddadi and Iran are again the biggest stumbling block for Gilas Pilipinas and the rest of the Asian countries in the battle for the lone Olympic berth up for grabs in the September 23 to October 3 event slated in Changsha, China.
